Fungus is not always an enlightening conversation to have with anyone, and certainly not while you’re eating, but there are some fungi out there that you may not even know exist, which carry incredible benefits and nutrients that help to keep your body and mind healthy, fit and young.

While the word “fungus” may not sound very unappetizing, there are in-fact some that you may be consuming right now, like your general portobello mushrooms that you get from the grocery store! And some that you’ll probably consider taking like the Cordyceps militaris Mushroom Extract, after understanding its incredible benefits.

Where does Cordyceps militaris Mushroom Extract Originate?

The Cordyceps mushroom is a common medicinal mushroom with more than 400 different types, most of which grows on the larvae of insects.  They are known to grow in various places like (but not limited to) China, Japan, India, and Peru. Their fungal spores typically infect insects and arthropods, with each species of Cordyceps sinensis infecting a specific bug, whereafter they proliferate and grow outside their host’s body. The spores will land on the specific bug and begin to germinate to develop into a mushroom.

While Cordyceps sinensis are known to have been used by many traditional healers throughout history to cure and treat many ailments, but since they are very expensive and grow from insects, which may be quite off-putting to consumers, an alternative plan needed to be made. Fortunately, scientists have figured out a way to mirror or duplicate and even improve on the positive effects of this mushroom as well as enable to grow on natural (non-insect) sources, a new varietal of Cordyceps was born, known as Cordyceps militaris.

Cordyceps militaris has been developed to duplicate the benefits of wild and more expensive Cordyceps sinensis (the type that grows on insects). And is used in Traditional Chinese Medicines, to treat fatigue, kidney disease, low libido, and more.
